The cotter pin is a kind of mechanical part, which is mainly used to prevent loosening of the screw connection. After the nut is tightened, insert the cotter pin into the nut groove and the hole at the tail of the bolt, and pull the shank of the cotter pin apart to prevent the relative rotation of the nut and the bolt. Split pin is a kind of metal hardware, commonly known as spring pin.
There are five main points to note when using split pins:
1. Eye circles should be made as round as possible.
2. The cross-section of the two pins of the cotter pin should be circular, but it is agreed that there is a fillet with a radius r = (0.05 ~ 0.01) dmax at the junction of the two planes of the cotter pin and the circumference (d-cotter pin diameter).
3. The offset between the two gaps of the split pin and the two feet should not be greater than the difference between the nominal size of the split pin and dmax.
4, if the split pin promises to be made into an opening, the angle α of the inner plane of the two feet should meet the specifications.
5. The surface of the split pin is not allowed to have burrs, irregularities and harmful defects.
