How does precision machining work

The processing of precision parts cannot complete all the processing contents of all surfaces in a single process. The entire machining process of precision parts processing can be divided into the following stages:


(1) Roughing stage. Most of the machining allowances are removed from each of the machined surfaces, and fine references are made. The main consideration is to increase productivity as much as possible.


(2) Semi-finishing stage. Removal of defects that may occur after rough machining prepares the surface for finish machining, requires a certain degree of machining accuracy, guarantees an appropriate finishing allowance, and completes the machining of secondary surfaces at the same time.


(3) finishing stage. At this stage, a large cutting speed, a small feed rate, and a depth of cut are used to remove the finishing allowance left by the previous process, so that the surface of the part reaches the technical requirements of the pattern.


(4) finishing stage. It is mainly used to reduce the surface roughness value or strengthen the machined surface. It is mainly used for surface processing with high surface roughness (ra≤0.32 μm).


(6)Ultra-precision processing stage. The processing precision is 0.1-0.01μm and the surface roughness value is ra ≤ 0.001μm. The main processing methods are: precision cutting, precision mirror grinding, precision grinding and polishing, etc.
