Recently, the production of water heaters for gas water heaters using aluminum alloys has caused widespread public concern. In response to media reports, the reporter interviewed Liu Runfeng, deputy secretary-general of China National Hardware Association and secretary general of the gas-fired appliance branch. Liu Runfeng expressed the following opinions:

First of all, correct the "aluminum substitute copper" statement. In the gas appliance industry, we do not support the use of "aluminum substitute copper".

Secondly, aluminum alloy heat exchangers are currently one of the many choices of materials used in gas water heaters. Enterprises can choose their own product positioning according to their own conditions, in accordance with the requirements of national standards, and adhere to the principle of quality first. We hope that other companies will not make comments, and the news media need not make a fuss.

Third, after the application of the aluminum alloy heat exchanger gas water heater products through the development, analysis, small-scale trials and other stages of work, the new factory delivery products to the national testing center, in accordance with the current implementation of product standards testing, the conclusion is qualified. However, there may be differences between laboratory tests and in-use tests. Therefore, whether it can satisfy the use in different environments requires the long-term use of the users. It is recommended that companies that have used aluminum alloy materials besides the various life-spans that have been performed so far. In addition to tests, long-term tracking of service life and quality under different usage conditions is also required.

Fourth, innovation is an eternal theme. Any form of innovation, as long as the interests of consumers are given first place, is conducive to the healthy development of the industry and is in line with the country’s development direction, the Association encourages them.
