The common strength grades of carbon steel screws are: 4.8 grade, 5.8grade, 6.8grade, 8.8grade, 10.9grade, and 12.9grade. The nuts are correspondingly: 4grade, 6grade, 8grade, 10grade, and 12grade.
Generally, the screws below 8.8grade are called ordinary screws, while those above 8.8grade (including 8.8grade) are high-strength screws. The difference is that the high-strength screws need to be quenched and tempered.
