The removal of electroless nickel plating is much more difficult than electroplating nickel layers, especially for highly corrosion resistant electroless nickel plating. Unqualified electroless nickel plating should be removed before the heat treatment, otherwise the passivation of the coating will be more difficult after plating. It is required that the deplating solution must be free from corrosion on the substrate. Secondly, the thickness of the coating, the speed of the deplating, and the cost of the deplating must be considered.
The chemical stripping method does not cause the workpiece to be corroded, and it is suitable for workpieces with complex geometric shapes and can be uniformly plated.
Formula 1: Concentrated HNO3, 20-60°C. The liquid has low cost and high speed (30-40μm/h) and has low toxicity. Applicable dimensions are not required for high-precision workpiece deplating, to prevent the water, after the deplating is completed quickly into the hydrochloric acid and then washed with running water.
